Orthodontic treatment is a branch of dentistry straightening of malocclusion into normal occlusion. It is composed of general orthodontic treatment which straightening malalignmented set of teeth into normal set of teeth or moving teeth having space to make right set of teeth, orthopedic treatment that regulates the growth of maxilla and mandible of whom having disproportion between mandible and maxilla in case of a underdeveloped or overdeveloped lower jaw in growing aged patients and surgical orthodontic treatment balancing whole facial problems cause by mandibular prognathism, retrognathism, facial asymmetry and facial deformities, which is accompanied.

Since orthodontic treatment is one of the latest and the most specialized field in dentistry, it is the first opened specialty course in dentistry. Dept of orthodontics of Chonnam National University is the nationwide leading group in clinical treatment and all staffs with prof. Hyun-Sik Hwang and Jin-Hyung Cho are doing their best in research, resulted in great academic achievement and efforts to provide high quality treatment. We adopted multidisciplinary treatment concept into clinical orthodontic treatment including periodontal and prosthodontic treatment for better treatment of lost teeth and periodontal orthodontic treatment helping patients maintain long-lasting healthy gingiva. In this way, we serve the best treatment for patients and also expanded the treatment area to lingual side, invisible and esthetic orthodontic treatments in the early stage, which is taking a growing interest recently.
